ACMR participated in and was a sponsor of this year’s NAMIWalks, which took place at Grant Park in Atlanta on October 8. NAMIWalks supports the work of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) organizations, which host education programs, facilitate support groups, provide mental health trainings, advocate for access to services, and offer a compassionate place to turn for the millions of Americans living with mental illness. Over 5,900 teams and 54,000 participants at 79 different Walk sites this year raised almost 10 million dollars for NAMI organizations and regional affiliates. Georgia specifically had over 1,000 participants that were led by 112 team captains to raise a total of $153,152.
The 5k walk displayed public support for people with mental health challenges and also provided live performances, speakers, and a food truck for participants. ACMR is proud to support events like this and works towards growing an actively supportive community in Georgia.
