On Tuesday, January 31, Atlanta City Councilmember C.T. Martin, Mayor Kasim Reed, and the Department of Parks and Recreation hosted the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the new Doctors’ Memorial Park. Located at 500 Fairburn Road, S.W., right across the street from ACMRs facility, ACMR was proud to have provided volunteers and parking for those who attended.
The park is located across Fairburn Road from the former Holy Family Hospital, which was erected in 1962, then Southwest Community Hospital, which closed its doors in 2009 after over 40 years of service.
The Doctors’ Memorial Park is the community’s way of paying homage to all the doctors who played a vital role in its healthcare and well-being. Former doctors of the facilities that used to accompany the space attended the ground breaking along with other city officials.
ACMR is committed to the city of Atlanta’s vision in building strong and safe communities through public health. The ACMR family recognizes that the health of a park is directly connected to the health and beauty of its surrounding neighborhood, and is looking forward to seeing how Doctors’ Memorial Park enhances our community.
