PRN Nurses Needed (LPN/RN)
Scope
Nurses needed for week and weekend shifts (7A-7P, 7P-7A). Must have flexibility in schedule and be available on short notice. Other shifts available as identified.
Duties
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Medication administration per protocol, under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or RN on duty;
- Providing general nursing care to study participants as necessary;
- Observation and monitoring of physical and mental status of study participants every shift;
- Communicate in a timely manner to the study staff all notable participant issues;
- Make a verbal shift report to assigned study personnel at the end of every shift;
- In the absence of the expressive therapist, assure that study participants have planned activities and are allowed supervised access to the expressive therapy room;
- Assure proper documentation is in each study participant’s record;
- Chart in BIRP format each shift on all inpatient study participant and outpatient records as needed;
- Complete all required forms for admissions and discharges;
- Perform Q12 hour physician order checks to assure timely and accurate transcription of orders onto Medical Administration Records;
- Perform daily QA chart audits to assure that all required forms are complete and present in each inpatient chart;
- Assure that all forms are properly filed in each inpatient study participant’s chart;
- Vital signs, obtain lab specimens (blood and urine), and EKG’s when necessary;
- Call in prescription orders and refills to pharmacies per physician orders;
- Handle telephone inquires in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answer incoming calls when required. Take complete messages and notify appropriate personnel;
- Checking rooms daily for necessary supplies;
- Maintaining study participant confidentiality;
- Maintaining current knowledge to assure a safe working environment and demonstrating practical application of all policies and procedures relative to safety and infection control;
- Utilizing universal precautions in any potential contact with study participant body fluids or used participant supplies that may be contaminated with participant body fluids;
- Projecting a positive image of the facility in all interactions and supporting effective team functioning;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES – This position requires the following minimal requirements:
- Knowledge of accepted nursing standards and practices;
- Knowledge of basic pharmacology;
- Knowledge of basic computer skills;
- Skill in providing study participant care in accordance with the facility’s applicable standards, policies, and procedures;
- Ability to present a positive image of the facility;
- Ability to maintain study participant confidentiality;
- Ability to work as a team member;
- Ability to maintain quality control standards;
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations;
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures;
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and written;
- Attention to detail.
EDUCATION – Graduation from an approved school of nursing is required.
EXPERIENCE – One to three years experience as an LPN or RN is required.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE – Current LPN or RN License
