Vaccines and Clinical Trials

Atlanta Center for Medical Research Resource Blog

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, which aims to increase awareness about the importance of immunization across the lifespan, from infants to the elderly. Vaccines are a safe and effective way to prevent the contraction of countless life-threatening diseases. Vaccines prevent millions of deaths each year; however, if we stopped administering vaccines, the few cases we have in the United States could very quickly become tens or hundreds of thousands of cases. Even though many serious vaccine-preventable diseases are uncommon in the United States, some are common in other parts of the world.

Check out our infographic to learn the history, and process of how vaccines are created.

Clinical research and vaccines go hand-in-hand. For more information on what clinical trials are, visit our Clinical Trials 101 blog to learn about the clinical research process. Volunteer today for an ACMR clinical trial to contribute to the search for new, safe, and effective ways to fight and eradicate diseases.
